Sforzando trumphet is great but no better than my Korg (2008-era) workstation. The best are the orchestral strings, esp. Most 1990's/2000-era synths can do a more realistic job. Not a comparison with other MIDI guitars. NOTE: What follows is a comparison of these sounds to what I can get on rather old synths.

(Pat Metheny's old Roland-Fuji G-303 for example.) I thought the best thing about MIDI guitars was they had a unique sound. I've never been interested in MIDI guitars. I have to say - some of these demos are dazzling. There are some great synth sounds available on keyboards but they aren't on the SY-1 or even the SY-1000 from what I've seen on YouTube. I've played the demo videos loads of times, in case there are sounds that I've missed. The Jamstik Studio Midi Guitar seemed interesting.Īssuming I'm not missing something, the Boss SY-1 seems to track a lot better, but either they've chosen to it to make it sound like '80s pop or the sound generation system won't let them use any good sounds. But I don't want the pickup and electronics on my guitar anymore. I thought my Roland guitar synth tracked better than Midi Guitar 2, although I found it tracked better on the internal sounds than outputting to a midi keyboard.

If Jam Origin want to make the full up-to-date version available to demo for a limited time and tell me how to set it up so that it plays like the videos I would buy it.Īs far as recording, I use iReal Pro to generate ad-lib midi piano parts in various styles and if I need anything specific I write it out in MuseScore and import the midi file into Logic. I get the demo version out every now and then, but just when I think it's working I realise what a hassle it is.
